THE ARTIST

My name is Molly Elaine Hartz. I'm an Arizona native, and as such, my artwork reflects my love of all things natural. I began drawing and painting animals in Elementary School and continued to expand my knowledge of techniques and medium throughout high school and college. My skills were really put to the test when asked to create a 7' x 70' mural for Lost Island Waterpark during the summer of 2006.

MEDIUMS USED
I enjoy using a variety of media to create my artwork. My two-dimensional pieces are most often created using oil or acrylic paints though I have also worked with watercolor, charcoal, colored pencil, ink, and dabbled in creative photography.
For my three-dimensional pieces, I prefer to use polymer clay. However, I also enjoy creating pottery and carving alabaster.
I also indulge my interests in other aspects of the fine arts. I've participated in many stage plays and musicals, both in high school and college, including the traveling theatre production of "Route 66: A Celebration of America’s Main Street."
I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Theatre Education and a minor in Studio Art. Though I still enjoy the theatre, I now dedicate most of my time working at my local humane society caring for unwanted dogs and cats and preparing them for their new families. I enjoy studying each animal’s personality as I work with them. My observations of their unique qualities are often reflected in my artwork.
